PJPII HS Continues To Build Interscholastic Athletic Programs With the Hiring of Soccer Coach

SoccerPope John Paul II High School, the first-year Catholic school in Hyannis, continues the process of building an interscholastic athletic program with the announcement that John Pupa has been hired to coach soccer.  Coach Pupa coached at both Holy Trinity School in West Harwich and St. Pius X School in South Yarmouth. Last year, his team finished 14-1-1.

Athletic Director Al Catelli stated, “In bringing Mr. Pupa onboard, we’ve added another coach who will model Christian values, has impeccable integrity, a strong work-ethic and is able to motivate student-athletes to be the very best persons they can be. And, it doesn’t hurt that he has been very successful on the soccer pitch either!”

Mr. Pupa added, “I am extremely impressed with the direction this new school is taking. They exhibit a resolve to create and implement a top-notch, quality athletic program but not at the expense of producing top notch, quality young men and women. As a dad, that’s important to me.”

Coach Pupa is a 1977 graduate of Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School where he played soccer and baseball. He went on to graduate from the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, NY and is a retired U.S. Naval Reserve Officer. He is a Senior Financial Advisor with Ameriprise Financial Advisors in Hyannis.

Mr. Pupa resides in Marstons Mills with his wife and daughter and is a communicant at Our Lady of Victory Parish in Centerville.
