Addition Of Noted CC Coach
Continues Moves To Bolster Sport Programs

linehanPope John Paul II High School in Hyannis took another step toward building a strong athletic program with the announcement that Rick Linehan has been hired to coach boys’ and girls’ cross country.  In 5 years as cross country coach at Barnstable High School, Mr. Linehan’s teams garnered 3 league titles and consistently finished in the EMass top 12.

Athletic Director Al Catelli stated, “We are extremely happy to have Mr. Linehan join our coaching staff. His record speaks for itself. However, and most important, his dedication to inspire commitment and encourage leadership among the student-athletes in his care is certain to produce life-long skills that will be valuable in any endeavors they might undertake.”

Mr. Linehan added, “I am excited to be a part of this new venture. Together with my fellow coaches, the administration, and faculty, we plan to create a quality athletic program that also promotes a strong commitment to academics, a dedication to serve others, and a desire to lead a value-centered life.”
In addition to cross country, he has 18 league titles and a combined record of 275 wins and just 97 losses coaching both outdoor and indoor track. Mr. Linehan will continue to coach girls’ outdoor track at Barnstable High School, a position he has held for 25 years.

Mr. Linehan is a 1979 graduate of Boston College and earned a Masters Degree from Salem State College.

Mr. Linehan resides in West Hyannis.
