First and Goal: Muldoon Selected to Lead
Young Pope John Paul II Football Program

Hyannis, MA – June 14, 2010 – Pope John Paul II High School announces the hiring of John J. Muldoon as head football coach and athletic director. Coach Muldoon comes to the Lions with an impressive resume that includes coaching stints with Massachusetts Maritime Academy and Saint Anselm College. He most recently served as offensive run game coach at Barnstable High School.

“I’m extremely excited to be asked to be an integral part of a growing program,” Mr. Muldoon stated. “(Former) Coach Demanche provided us with a solid foundation. I plan to build on what he started.”

In addition to Muldoon’s outstanding coaching resume, JPII Head of School Mr. Christopher Keavy is most impressed with his ability “to mold student-athletes into quality young adults. He is a perfect fit for our school – on and off the playing fields.”

Mr. Muldoon will teach health and physical education at the school and takes over the Athletic Director position from Mr. Al Catelli.

“I am emphatic that students who live on Cape Cod and desire a quality, Catholic education will find exactly what they’re looking for at JPII. I believe in the school and I believe in the direction they’re headed. This is about to become the school of choice for all of Cape Cod,” Muldoon concluded.

Muldoon also served as an Assistant Coach and Director of Youth Programs for the Wareham Gatemen of the Cape Cod Baseball League.

Mr. Muldoon is a 2004 graduate of Massachusetts Maritime Academy where he played football. He and his wife Holly live in Buzzards Bay.
